Stinkerbelle goes this Friday to get spayed. I don't know why, but I feel so apprehensive about this. I hate the thought of leaving her there overnight. The thought of her having to sleep in some cage makes me want to cry. What is she going to feel when/if she wakes up around 5:00 in the morning and wants someone to pet her? (That's about the time she wakes me up each morning for attention.) I will probably be at the vet's office at the earliest time I can pick her up Saturday morning.
Have any of you ever traveled with your cat? DS wants to go to my parents' house for Thanksgiving. I asked my mom if I came, could I bring the cat? She said yes, which really surprised me because she hates having animals in the house. I'm not so sure how a five hour car trip is going to be with the kitty. Plus, the packing I'm going to have to do! Cat food, food dish, water dish, kitty litter & box (& scoop). Should I ask the vet for a sedative for her? Or should I look into boarding her for a few days? (But then I go back to having her sleeping in a cage and being lonely at night. Of course, she might prefer being away from us and around other animals.)

Today's lesson
I remember reading somewhere that you should try to learn something new each day. Well, today I learned I don't like goat cheese. *blech*

Work
I keep going back and forth in my mind if I should try for a change. I've been with this company for 20 years. I enjoy my job, and I'm damn good at it. I make good money, have good insurance, 4 weeks of vacation, a great boss. I just got my annual review. It went very well. So why would I want to change? I intensely dislike the others in my department. I know I'm there to do a job, not make friends. But, you know, when the sheer idiocy of others makes you want to scream and throw something at them, it's hard to maintain a semblance of professionalism. Those two just make me want to puke. I know that one of these days, the comments made under my breath are not going to be made as quietly as they should.
But I am excited about my job and one of my new "projects" that came from the annual review. It's going to be more work and more responsibility, but it should really help improve cash flow, and maybe, just maybe, I'll finally meet the goal we set of collecting 95% the following month.

Randomness
1. My cat totally owns me. I realized that during the night when she meowed at me because she wanted under the covers, and I lifted them up for her! She could have just as easily gotten under there without my assistance.
2. Yesterday evening when I left work, I realized when I got in my car that my jeans were unzipped. I have no idea how long they were unzipped. I hope my shirt hung down low enough to hide the fact.
3. I really think one of the newbies atOTCrazytown either needs to get over herself and realize it's just a message board, or leave. Someone really needs to tell this peep that you can't control how people are going to respond to your post. Sorry that no one focused on what *you* think we should have. And by we, I mean the people that replied, not me. I stay out of those threads for the most part.
4. I'm going to JC Penney in a few minutes. I need new towels and shoes.
5. I didn't take my medicine this morning. I've got to go do that right now.
Bye!

Some days...
I'm so glad today is Friday. I couldn't stand another day at work right now. I need to look in the handbook to see what kind of trouble I would get in if I told a co-worker to pull her head out of her ass and quit being so damn stupid. I would also like to tell her that her little attempt to make me look bad and herself look better failed,BIG.TIME.BITCH! First off, you stupid ass bitch, yes, you *CAN* update the physician's phone number without all that other information. That was a warning that popped up, but it allows you to save anyway. Gawd, you're so stupid! Secondly, don't fucking worry about what will fly on a UB or not. That's my area of concern, and it's already been covered.
In other news, I received a phone call from a head-hunter this morning. That's kind of ballsy, I think, to just call a company and ask for their (whatever job you're trying to fill), to see if that person would be interested. At least, I'm assuming it was a cold call. I don't think anyone would have given my name to someone. The job in question was in Chicago. Hell, I can't take the winters here. I sure couldn't deal with them in Chicago. Besides, even though I work with a total dumbass who keeps trying to make me look bad, I really do like my job.
As a matter of fact, in case there was any doubt, I ROCK at my job. I had to send out lists of accounts that must have claims filed by 12/31/07, or Medicare won't pay due to timely filing constraints. Naturally, I include the statement to call if any help is needed. One of the employees called, said she was behind, they were short one office member, and she just didn't think she would be able to get this done (in two and a half months). I researched all accounts, and handled all that I could (which was about 2/3's of the accounts) in about 3 1/2 hours.

1. 20 years is a long time. A very long time. Maybe I'm due for a change.
2. Thankfully, I don't have to be anywhere Saturday, so I plan on sleeping in.
3. I must learn to stay away from the computer when it's that time of the month, because that's when I'm easily angered.
4. I need a clever idea for my Halloween costume for work. I'm thinking about going as "Happy Bunny". I could just get some bunny ears, and a plain t-shirt, and use fabric paint to put some of my favorite HB sayings on it.
5. I'm really starting to get pissed at people. I'm having to restrain myself from sending "fuck you" emails.
6. The doc has put me on a new medicine - an injection called byetta. Mainly for the appetite control. Silly doc. It's the the appetite that's the problem. It's "boredom" eating, the "depressed" eating, and the eating when I'm not even hungry.
7. My Wizard of Oz doll set is no longer a set.

8. I need to get educated concerning hairballs. I'm not sure, but I think maybe Stinkerbelle has them, and I don't know if this is something to worry about, or just part of what a cat goes through.
9. I want a drink. I haven't had anything alcoholic since July (when arkieboy moved back home). Or maybe I need a cigarette. I haven't smoked in a really long time, and quit because I was tired of the sinus infection/sore throat thing I had going.
10. I'm reading a book titled "Dead Girls are Easy".

May you find peace, Mary

I found out this morning that a very dear friend decided to end her life last night by walking in front of a train. I've known Mary since around 1995, when she came to work at one of my company's nursing homes in Arkansas. She and I just clicked right away. We would both bemoan the lack of good men, and had the running joke that why couldn't the other one of us be a man or both of us become lesbians, because we would be perfect for each other, except we both wanted our partner to have a penis.
We had lost touch with each other a year after I had moved to Tennessee. A position had come open in the corporate office, Mary had applied, but didn't get it after thinking she had it in the bag, so she left the company and cut all ties. She had come back to the company a couple of years ago, and we had started getting close again.
And now she's gone. I will never hear her voice on the other end of the phone. Or get an email from her. We'll never go out for a beer together again. I'm sad and I'm angry.
Mary, your hair is perfect. I'm going to miss you so much. Aaaa-ooooooooo! I will always think of you when I hear this song.
I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand
Walking through the streets of Soho in the rain
He was looking for the place called Lee Ho Fook's
Going to get a big dish of beef chow mein
Aaaa-ooooooooo Werewolves of London Aaaa-ooooooooo
Aaaa-ooooooooo Werewolves of London Aaaa-ooooooooo
If you hear him howling around your kitchen door
Better not let him in
Little old lady got mutilated late last night
Werewolves of London again
Aaaa-ooooooooo Werewolves of London Aaaa-ooooooooo
Aaaa-ooooooooo Werewolves of London Aaaa-ooooooooo
He's the hairy handed gent who ran amuck in Kent
Lately he's been overheard in Mayfair
You better stay away from him
He'll rip your lungs out, Jim
Huh, I'd like to meet his tailor
Aaaa-ooooooooo Werewolves of London Aaaa-ooooooooo
Aaaa-ooooooooo Werewolves of London Aaaa-ooooooooo
Well, I saw Lon Chaney walking with the Queen
Doing the werewolves of London
I saw Lon Chaney, Jr. walking with the Queen
Doing the werewolves of London
I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's
His hair was perfect
Aaaa-ooooooooo Werewolves of London
Draw blood Aaaa-ooooooooo

I got a package!
Yay! When I got home, and looked to see where DS had put today's mail, I saw a big box! The excitement was building as I tried to tear into the box. After I finally get it open, my first thought was "you bitch!" Carey sent me a friggin' unicorn as part as my "prize" for her bloggy contest. Since there was also a cute card, a sucker, and a box of nuts & chews, I will let her live.

Worst.Night.Of.Sleep.EV.AH!
Because I was feeling guilty about Cappy staying shut up in the little bathroom all day, and all night, and only getting out for a short time in the evenings, I decided last night to take her upstairs with me. I go into the bedroom, shut the door, take her into the bathroom with me, and put her down. As I'm getting ready for bed, she's exploring my bathroom. I leave the light on in the second half of the room, leave the door cracked, and go to bed. After laying there for a couple of minutes, I hear Cappy meow a couple of times - it's that "I'm lonely and I need something" meow. I get up, go in the bathroom and don't see her. (Note to self: expand on the disappearing cat bit later) She meows again, and I discover she's already in the bedroom. I go back in there, and she ducks under the bed. OK, fine, stay there. Turn off the light, get back in bed, and she gives me that same meow again within a minute. Get back up, turn on the light, and see her at the foot of the bed. Pick her up, put her on the bed, off with the lights, and lay down. For the next three hours, I was pounced on constantly. She kept batting at me, and jumping all over the bed. After she kept pricking me on the legs (to declaw or not?), I finally pulled the sheet over me for some protection. HA! She crawled under the sheet so she could continue attacking my bare legs. Finally, at 2:30, I took her back downstairs and put her back in that bathroom so I could actually sleep. Then my son decides to wake me up at 6:30.
Remind me again why I ever thought having anything living in the house with me was a good idea? (Child or cat, your choice)
The disappearing cat: I had mentioned on OT how, on the first night, she "disappeared", and we couldn't find her, until finally I found her behind the dryer. Last night, I had let her out of the bathroom so she could start to learn the house. She went upstairs, and had hid in the closet in Clint's bathroom. I got her out of there, and then shut all the doors upstairs. I really didn't think she would start exploring the WHOLE house that quickly. She hung out on the stairs for a while. I wasn't really concerned about her whereabouts for a while. Then I decided to look for her. (I had also blocked off the entry to the laundry room.) Couldn't find her at all. Clint was asleep on the loveseat, so I didn't really look over in that area very much. After about an hour, Clint woke up and discovered that she was on the love seat with him. She starts exploring again, and next thing I know, she's found out that there is a gap between my stove and the baseboard thingy. I was not aware of this. It took a long time to coax her out from there.

I also got 2 new pairs of shoes:

These are called the Breezy leather wedge. I got this color and black.

Well, that sucks
So, last week, I picked up the 2nd book in the Black Jewels trilogy by Anne Bishop. While I was reading the book yesterday, it started coming apart. It came away from the backing in 3 or 4 sections. Do you have any idea how much that bothers my OCD-ness? I can't stand for my books to be messed up like that. I'm going to take it back to Barnes and Noble to see if they will exchange it for a new copy.
Update: Got my new copy of the book. Now I'm having to struggle with my desire for immediate gratification and my need for things to the same. The books in this trilogy are not new releases, but they are re-releasing them, this time in the trade paperback format. Originally, they were in the mass market paperback. As I was looking for this particular title to get my replacement copy, I found that B&N also has all 3 titles in stock, in the mass market paperback format. They also had an ombnibus copy, but that's a different kettle of fish altogether. So. Do I give in to my desire to know Right.Now. how the story ends, and buy the m.m. paperback, or wait until the 3rd title is released in a couple of months in the trade format, so that all 3 of my copies are in the same format. OR... do I just go into B&N, grab a copy of #3, sit down in one of the chairs and read the book now, and then come back my own copy when it's released in trade?

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
I didn't make the finals in the tat contest. *pouts*
Oh, well. Guess I'll have to wait until I can afford to pay for it myself, before I get another one.
But I do want to thank all of you who voted and got me as far as I did go. *smooch*

It's quiz time!
I enjoy these quizzes. I know they're totally bogus, but some times, I think the answer is a fairly accurate assessment of me and my personality. And when I was reading this one, I thought, yeah, that's sort of me. I wouldn't complain about portion sizes, though. Then I got to the final statement.
That is so far off the mark to the point of being ludicrous. ME? Not do anything ordinary or vulgar? Bwahahahahaha! What else would you call a woman who once farted rather loudly in the store, and then turned to her son and said his name in a horrified voice, as if it was he that farted. So there's the vulgar part. And I would say I'm a very ordinary person. I've never done anything super exciting or adventurous or exotic.
| What Your Pizza Reveals |
You have a hearty appetite. You are likely to complain if a restaurant has small portions. You consider pizza to be bread... very good bread. You fit in best in the Midwest part of the US. You like food that's traditional and well crafted. You aren't impressed with "gourmet" foods. You are generous, outgoing, and considerate with your choices. You are carefree and friendly. You should consider traveling to Hawaii. The stereotype that best fits you is upper class preppy. You don't anything too ordinary or vulgar. |
