"Hunger affects more than 38 million people in America today - and 14 million are children. It's a challenge that requires constant attention and support, and food producers and chefs are in a unique position to help raise awareness and money through projects like The Celebrity Pasta Lovers' Cookbook.

Every time you or a friend downloads a copy of The Celebrity Pasta Lovers' Cookbook, Barilla will donate $1, with a total donation up to $100,000, to America's Second Harvest - The Nation's Food Bank Network, a national charity that secures and distributes more than 2 billion pounds of donated food and grocery products annually. We appreciate your help in alleviating hunger in America, and we hope you enjoy the cookbook!"

As far as the cookbook goes, it's only 12 recipes, but it does send $1 to the food bank.

Barilla pasta is good stuff. Thanks for the download.

Done, but I will probably never use the recipes. I'm old fashioned and I either cook off the seat of my pants (figuratively), or from index cards I can lay on the counter and spill stuff on. I never got into that online recipe thing.

(Still can't see the pic for Coco)

Do you want me to email the pic to you, bob?

Bob, it's a picture of a beautiful white horse, really a lovely lovely horse, but with a skanky naked boy leaning against it and making eyes at it.

Homelessness and hunger are such fantastic causes. I'll take a look at the link today. *smooch*

Alright, I'm just a cynic. I completely disbelieve that hunger affects 38 million people in America including 14 million children.

arkie said...

Really, MTW? So, how many people in America do *you* think are affected by hunger? Enlighten me, please.

Now that's a good cause.

Thanks - Ben O.

Arkie, I want to apologize to you for rudely posting my negative comment without even hanging around to discuss it further. Will you forgive me?

That said (and ignoring my first comment), the point of your post was that you’re doing something to help fix a problem, and I think that’s great. I wish I’d said so yesterday.

And I hate leaving posts at 13 comments, so now I have to *smooch* you to make it 14.

Oh, and of course, I downloaded the cookbook. Thank you for sharing this.

Thank-you for the download, arkie.

You may know that I help run a breakfast program at my kids' school. Our area is quite poor. The teachers often comment that they are seeing good results because the kids have full tummies in the mornings. Having enough food means that kids can concentrate better, the behave better and generally do better in school.

We have even started keeping a stock of other items for those kids who don't have lunches either.

Making sure kids are fed is something that benefits everyone, I think, and not just later on when they take their education out into the world. It makes them easier to deal with now.
