Yesterday, I did something that was probably incredibly stupid. I gave the cat a bath. I guess it didn't go too bad - I came away with a nasty scratch on my hand and forearm, and that was all. Her fur feels so soft after the bath, and she smells nicer.
Do any of you bathe your cats? How frequently?

LOL! Oh god, before I got to the end I was hoping you wouldn't ask that question...I have NEVER bathed my cats! I give them flea meds from the vet, and that's it. I feel ashamed. *grin*
Good for you!
Our long-haired cat gets a bath about once every two months. Short-haired cat has only had a few in her year and a half of life. The first bath is always hardest, lol.
Old cat Tippy Toes just takes his bath like a man now. No problems. Graycie still doesn't like them much but she doesn't scratch at you or get despirate.
We do it in the kitchen sink because that is easier on the human back and seems like a good reinforcement of the old 'stay off the kitchen counters' imperative. That's where the kitty bath is!
This is code right? Please tell me this is code?
*buries my face in Arkie's freshly bathed pussy* Buwahahaha!! There's nothing like a clean kitty!!
We have two cats, Crickett (medium to long haired domestic) and Bloo (Siamese...very short hair) and we bathe them.
Crickett has always had baths by us and while she doesn't really like them, she tolerates it. She always loves up on the one who bathed her, which is nice since she sits in the sink looking like she's plotting our very deaths!! She gets bathed about once every month or two, depending.
Bloo hates baths. Karen gave him half a bath once. He howled, clawed, and scratched the entire time so she just let him jump down....still with soap on him! I took him in the bathroom and finished the job and earned quite a few deep scratches as my reward!
We just decided that he can clean his own damn self!! However, before Jess left for Indiana, she bathed Bloo for us. She took him in the bathroom and washed him in the tub and all we could hear was this deep-down-from-the-deepest-part-of-his-soul howl. He came out clean and Jess never received a scratch!! I'm glad she bathed him, cause unless he is just covered in mud (which would be hard since he's an inside cat) he can stay blucky!!
In between baths, we use a cat bath wipe that makes them smell pretty. I think between the food we feed them (Nutro's Natural Choice Complete Care Indoor Adult formula) and being inside cats, they stay very soft and sleek. We also brush them regularly, which helps get the fuzzies/loose hair off them and keeps their coats shiny and nice.
Good luck!!
I have no cats. I used to as a kid. I tried to bathe one once and never, ever again. I can't imagine even trying now if I had one.
I gave the cat a bath once, but the fur stuck to my tongue so I didn't try it again! ;-)
Give a cat a bath? No thanks. Cats scare me. :D
I do, however, love the smell of Holly after her bath. She goes to the groomer every couple of months with a home bath in between visits.
She HATES having baths and immediately tries to find the stinkiest thing in the yard to roll in after the bath.
I used to give my old cats a bath, right after DH developed his allergies to cats, in hopes of reducing the dander. All it accomplished was me getting scratched and then having to buy a new shower curtain.
I've never tried with my new cats. Hmm, that sounds like it could be a fun project!
Yeppers. All of ours get baths. We give them baths a couple of times a year. We too come out with a few scratches. :)
It's purty over here. I like your new background.
No, I don't bath my cat. I would guess that if you keep at it the cat will get used to it. I do brush him a couple times a week.
*giggle*
Um. As far as I know, cats are self cleaning.
I have given baths to cats in the past. Not fun. I always wore rubber gloves so that they couldn't scratch up my arms. LOL.
But now they live with my mom, so yay for that! :D
