I've read comments about how trashy she and her family are... Is she trash because she was having sex at the age of 16? Is she trash because she was having sex outside of marriage? Is she trash because she got pregnant? Is it a combination of having sex at the age of 16, without the benefits of getting married, and getting pregnant?
I had sex at the age of 17. Guess I'm trash.
I had sex before I was married. Guess I'm trash.
I did not get pregnant until I was 25, and married, so guess I'm not totally trash.
I've read the article - it doesn't address whether or not they were using birth control. IF they were using birth control, yeah, there might be some shock when you end up pregnant - it's SUPPOSED to be effective, right? (Yes, I know that no birth control method, other than complete abstinence, is 100% effective.)
So, to any female who's had sex at a certain age, or had sex outside of marriage, or gotten pregnant at either a young age or without being married, I guess you're trash. So says the "non-judgemental" ones. What-the-fuck-ever.

I agree with you, Arkie.
I had sex when I was younger than 16.
*waits for everyone to get back into their chairs*
Okay then.
Ooops. I published too soon.
I also meant to say that I do not place all of the blame on parenting. There are many cases where people (especially teens) do not make good decisions. Young Jamie Lynn has had a LOT of influence in her life. While I have to wonder if her mom could have done some things differently, I don't think they can just blame her.
I will admit that, if she were to lose her show, I would not fault the show for that. Teen pregnancy happens, yes. But I can understand and appreciate a network taking a stand in not supporting it. Perhaps there is a different spin that can come out of it on another network. Even though she will have a lot of support (including financial), her life will not be easy from here on out. And even though she is 16, she is still a child. Her childhood is now over.
I think that the environment in Hollywood is jsut so different than we can imagine. I'm not saying that it is too blame but we really dont know what it is like for her.
I was born having sex.
The story of her being pregnant just made me really sad. She's only 16! Kids are growing up too quickly these days.
I don't think of her as trash at all.
We'll just have to wait and see how she handles it all after having the baby. I sure hope she handles it better than her sister has.
I had sex before getting married. Mind you, I got married at 35 LOL.
I agree with you, love.
I was having sex at 16.
I had sex before I was married.
I got pregnant before I got married. But I wasn't 16, I was 21 so am I still total trash?
Add me to the list.
I think they get called trash because they are easy targets and in the public eye.
I consider Britney to be trash but only because she has put her children in serious harms way with her driving habits while they are in the car. Driving with a kid on your lap while you are texting someone when you know you are under a microscope is just dumb. I guess not relly trash, but dumb.
I think that there is also some irony in the Mom writing a parenting book while she has one 16 year old daughter who is preggers and another daughter who is in and out of rehab and keeps losing her children. Also probably not good judgement for a parent to have their 16 year old daughter's boyfriend living under their roof.
So again, trash? I dunno. Bad judgement? without a doubt.
What I want to know is, what is she supposed to do - a public self flogging? She has taken responsibility for her actions, and for what it's worth, so has her boyfriend.
She's being branded with the same iron as her sister whether she deserves it or not.
I'm glad you posted this arkie. I noticed the thread over there, but have been to busy to read or weigh in. Here are my thoughts; there has never been a time that a young girl has gotten pregnant, and I didn't feel bad/sorry for her immediately. "Trash" (of any color or kind) never enters my mind because of someone having sex, premaritally, or as a teen.
Jamie has been blasted simply because she is Britney's sister, and Britney has done enough to qualify to many, as being trash. If Miley Cyrus(sp) had gotten pregnant, I'm sure the reaction would be very different.
I agree with you and everyone else who posted here. It's not her age, it's not the sex...it's her misfortune of being related to Britney. I hope she proves everyone who blasted her wrong and shows she is capable of being a good mother, despite her young age.
My feeling is she is a bonehead for not using proper birth control.
(But as a chemist, I'm judgemental like that)
(Um , I met Mr Bob when I was 16)
I will edit my previous response to say I didn't know Jamie Lynn and her boyfriend were living together. That, is poor parenting.
I just hate it when the news media decide to cover a story like this. I am not into drive-by moralizing and very, very, very few people are trash.
The Network has every right to withdraw from or cancel her show because she is pregnant - but not to label her "trash".
That said, I don't think the Spears's mom is a good choice to write a parenting book, lol.
Add me to the list of peeps who don't think she is trash. I haven't walked in her shoes, so I try not to judge her. For the record, I had sex before marriage, although I married him anyway.
I don't think Britney is really trash either, but I do think she is really really stupid. I think somewhere trashy and stupid got intertwined. Trash is dirty, not dumb. It should be thrown out. I don't think either girl should be thrown out. They need more stable guidance, for any hope of normal existence to surface.
Normal is a relative term too. How can they be normal, when they are in the spotlight they are in?
*scoots in with the rest of the trash* :D
Merry Christmas.
