In the next few days, I will get to see my brother and my oldest nephew, neither of whom I have seen in about 12 years. They live in Idaho, and are driving to Arkansas to see the parents/grandparents. Even though this is *not* a good time for it, my boss is letting me take a couple of vacation days so I can drive down to visit.
This is my nephew, "D", from a couple of years ago:
And here's one of arkieboy from a few days ago:

Wow, look how much Arkieboy has grown up. The last picture I saw of him he was just a little boy.
Cool that you get to see the family after so long. *smooch*
That's great news.
Idaho is a long way.
Have a safe trip, Arkie!

That sounds great, Arkie! Twelve years is a long time. I think 8 years is the longest I've gone without seeing my sister who lives in Hawaii.
Arkieboy and your nephew look like them come from the same family. Have fun!
Wow! Twelve years! When I went home for Thanksgiving, it was the first time I saw my brother in two years. Do you keep in touch even though you don't see each other in person?
Carey, what always shocks me is when I hear Arkieboy's voice when he leaves me a voice mail. It's like, "whoa! that's a man's voice. My baby shouldn't have a man's voice yet!"
They are supposed to be at my parents' house Monday morning. I'm going to wait until they are either they're there, or at least pretty close before I drive down. I can only take a day or two at the most, so I don't want to drive down there, and then have to come back before seeing them.
I don't really keep in touch with my brother at all. I've been meaning to, but what do you talk about with someone who you basically don't even know anymore?
awesome that you get to see your brother and nephew. And wow! Arkieboy is getting big!
